Silver Tree Day Camp

UC Berkeley
Fall 2012

Situated within the diverse landscape of Glen Canyon, the Silver Tree Day Camp originated as a space for the children of San Francisco to experience the “strange ways of nature”.  Re imagined as a single building surface that acts as roof, wall, and ceiling; the strange ways of nature would be experienced within an abstracted canopy.  Perforated core-ten panels dip down from above to form trunks through which light spills from their voids.  The glazed envelope completely opens to the surrounding landscape, blurring the boundaries of what is nature and what is interior.
